Doesn't it make
sense to prevent
disease before it begins . . .
. . . rather than
look for a "cure" after the fact?
You can!
Fight the bite!
West
Nile Virus
People
and animals catch West Nile Virus from mosquitoes. West Nile infection
does not affect most people but it can lead to serious illness.
Most people bitten by an infected mosquito do not become ill, although
some people may experience flu like symptoms. Less than one
percent of the people infected with WNV will suffer serious
complications that can include inflammation of the brain, paralysis,
and on rare occasions, even death.
Protect yourself and your family from
mosquito bites by following these recommendations.
You can:
- Cover up exposed skin when
outdoors.
- Apply an EPA-approved insect
repellent to your exposed skin and clothing. Follow instructions
on the product label, especially for children under 12 years.
- Avoid mosquitoes when they are
most active at dawn and dusk.
- Eliminate standing water around
your home that may provide mosquitoes a place to breed.
- Empty birdbaths and clean
decorative ponds every 3 to 6 days.
- Repair or install screens on
your home.
- If you have a horse, vaccinate
it. One-third of horses infected by West Nile Virus die.
- Hunters should wear latex gloves
when field dressing and handling wild game. Cook meat thoroughly.
- Report dead birds to your local
Fish and Game office.

Dr. Stephanie Bodes, St Luke's
Regional Medical Center stated Friday Aug.11, 2006 in the Idaho
Statesman that the symptoms you should worry about are: persistent vomiting, severe stiff neck or
headache. Change in mental status-confusion, persistent lethargy,
difficulty waking up or difficulty speaking.
Even if you have these symptoms,
doctors won't be able to treat the virus itself, but they can help
treat the symptoms.
Dr. Rose Thomas, a Board Certified
Naturopathic Doctor, specializing in Prevention and Disease Health Care for the
21st Century states that:
"The body needs proper nutrition to
build the immune system so it can resist disease. If the body is weak it will need healthy
nutrition, whole food supplements, herbs, and/or homeopathic remedies
that help strengthen the immune system. Homeopathic remedies are
used to protect the body, help relieve symptoms, and possibly stop any
further complications of West Nile Virus. Homeopathic remedies
are safe and do not have any harmful side effects."
Doesn't it make sense to strengthen
the body and PREVENT DISEASE before it begins rather than look for a
cure after the fact?
Dr Thomas holds classes on the
prevention of West Nile Virus and other issues, with the use of healthy
nutrition, whole food supplements, herbs and homeopathic remedies.
